Definition
BTTS (Both Teams to Score) is a football betting market where you predict whether both teams will score at least one goal in the match. It is a simple yes/no market -- you bet "Yes" (both teams score) or "No" (at least one team fails to score). The final score and match winner are irrelevant.
How It Works
You only need each team to find the net once. A 1-1 draw, a 3-2 thriller, or a 4-1 blowout all count as BTTS Yes. A 1-0 win, a 2-0 win, or a 0-0 draw all count as BTTS No. The market is settled at full time (90 minutes plus injury time), excluding extra time.
Example
Manchester United vs Chelsea, BTTS Yes at odds 1.75, stake $40:
- Final score 2-1: both teams scored -- BTTS Yes wins, profit = $30
- Final score 3-0: only one team scored -- BTTS Yes loses, loss = $40
- Final score 1-1: both teams scored -- BTTS Yes wins, profit = $30
Why It Matters
BTTS is one of the most popular markets for accumulators because it is easy to understand and analyze. Key stats to consider include each team's scoring consistency, defensive record, and head-to-head history. Teams that score regularly but defend poorly are ideal BTTS Yes candidates. It also combines well with Over/Under markets for correlated parlays.
Look at each team's "BTTS percentage" over their last 10-20 matches to identify patterns. Teams with high scoring rates but leaky defenses are prime BTTS Yes candidates.
